Pekka Piekainen "Vika" Necklace - Sold

A graceful design by Finnish designer Pekka Piekäinen. Beautiful in its simplicity, the pendant is a great example of Piekainen's bold yet refined style of design. The unusual shape and curving line of the piece is dramatic and eye-catching. The necklace has a superb weight and feel.
About Pekka Piekainen (from Ginger Moro's "Designer European Jewelry"):

Piekainen designed simple, straightforward lines for Kaunis Koru in the late 60's that were unusual for the time. Moving to Turku for Auran Kultaseppa, the second oldest silver factory in Finland, he ventured into silver holloware, and rings and brooches using odd cuts of amethysts in high relief silver settings. His commissions for gifts of State and industrial concerns make him the leading silver designer in Finland today.
*Please note that vintage silver chain is not original to piece.
